Derrick is the owner of Savoy Bar and Grill and the founder and owner of StandBy Talent, a full service staffing firm. Established in 2007, StandBy Talent specializes in contract and contingency staffing services for IT, Accounting, Finance and HR positions. In 2015, StandBy Talent was recently recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest-growing companies in America for the third year in a row.
Prior to launching StandBy Talent Derrick was a consultant with Deloitte and a First Vice President and Senior Consultant in the Consulting Division of Silverton Bank and leading the Human Resource Advisory Services practice. With over 20 years in human resources and consulting, Mr. Harris has worked with a wide range of clients from Fortune 100 companies to small not-for-profit organizations. Mr. Harris specializes in talent acquisition, designing and implementing HR service delivery models that are tied to and complement an organization's business goals and strategy.
Prior to joining Silverton Bank, Mr. Harris established and managed The Human Resource Department - Atlanta, an Atlanta-based full service HR outsourcing and contract HR staffing company. Prior to forming The Human Resource Department - Atlanta, he was a senior consultant in the Human Resource Effectiveness Practice at Hewitt Associates LLC, global HR outsourcing firm. In this role, Derrick consulted with numerous Fortune 100 clients on developing and implementing HR delivery strategies that support business objectives. Prior to joining Hewitt, Derrick was a compensation consultant with Towers Perrin LLC where he managed compensation consulting projects in the healthcare field.
Prior to beginning his consulting career, Derrick filled various corporate HR roles in human resources including managing HR service delivery at companies like The Coca-Cola Company, J.P. Morgan Bank, and Unisys Corporation.
Derrick earned a Masters degree in Business Administration from Emory University's Goizueta Business School in 1992. And, he earned his undergraduate degree in Economics with honors from Columbia University in New York City in 1986.
